Short Break
My mother-in-law is gravely ill and very near the end. She’s 90, tougher than steel boots and has regrouped and come back fighting several times but this time is different. It’s more than likely the phone call will come in the next few days so we’re staying quiet and I won’t be posting for a wee bit. I’ll be lurking around all your sites from time to time, just not posting, is all.
In the meantime, go and check out the angelic voice of one of my best friends from home. Her name is Fiona and she’s been a professional singer for over a decade now. It would be difficult to find a sweeter person on this earth and you can hear it in her voice, particularly when she’s singing Gaelic.
Here she is: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=128885916
She also sings with her sisters in the Gaelic music group MacKenzie who have several albums under their belt already. I defy anyone to listen to Ma bhios tu fo Mhulad on their website and come away not thinking the human voice in harmony is the most beautiful sound on earth. They are something else. Here they are:

Fiona’s husband, Brian O’hEara, is a great musician too and you can link to him from Fiona’s page. They play together in Anam who are a band of some renown in the folk music world.
Top quality beautiful Gaelic music. You will not be wasting your time if you visit her, I promise.

From me and all, Sam.
And to answer your query; I got in just fine! Usually I just use an aggregator for your blog, but clicked on my link today just to double check and had no problems whatsoever.

Ta, Nanas.
SL, thanks. Much appreciated. She’s going to try on a different ‘puter tomorrow so we’ll see if it’s a block on my end or hers.

Prayers from the East are coming your way, dear. Best to the Problem Husband.

Thinking of you and your husband Sam and I hope she has a peaceful end. I will listen to the music and think of you. Much love and God bless.

That almost sounded like a premature obituary. This must truly be grave, no pun intended.
Is she in pain?

Thinking of you all and sending blessings your way

Thinking of you and your family in the coming days. I know how it feels to be expecting a phone call in the way that you are and I can understand why a blogging break would be appropriate right now.
Thanks for posting a link to that beautiful music. I enjoyed it in a melancholic kind of way. The sound of voices in harmony is truly lovey – it reminded me of listening to Zulu hymnals as a child in South Africa.

The music is lovely Sam. Thank you for that.

My dear Sami, so sorry to hear that Dave’s mother is near the end and am hoping that she goes in as peaceful and pain-free a way as possible. Our thoughts are with you and Dave. xxx
Thank you for that little plug too, m’dear. I truly did blush.

Although such circumstances are not unexpected, they are difficult when they actually happen.
We, your avid readership, shall be here when your muse forces your return.

So sorry to hear such news PCB, my love to all your family.
I visited this afternoon to tell you that I received two delightful little green parcels in the post this morning, with lovely messages attached to each. I’ve not unwrapped them yet, (saving them for the day) but I just wanted to say a very genuine, warm and fuzzy thank you for thinking of little me, all the way over here in the Forest of Epping, particularly during what must be a difficult time for you all.
I’m truly touched. Truly.
Thinking of you,
Cx

Dave’s mum passed away peacefully. She went in her sleep and suffered no pain. It had been expected for a while and it was difficult for Dave particularly to watch the decline but he had a lot of time to say his goodbyes for which he’s grateful. It’s a sad time.
Thank you for all your good wishes, everyone.
January 29th, 2007 at 8:25 am
So sorry, Sami. Please send Dave our love. Thinking of you at this sad time. xxxx
January 29th, 2007 at 10:14 am
So glad she had a peaceful end and as a loving mother with my own late loving mother tell your husband she will always be there – as long as there is someone on earth who loves her.
January 31st, 2007 at 12:24 am
Our sympathies to you and Dave, Sam. I’m glad he had the chance to say the things on his heart.

Was just checking back in and saw your update in the comments. I’m glad to know it ended as peacefully as one can ask for. Sending good thoughts to all of you right now.

Sam honey – I know California is the same side as Florida. Oh blimey I’ve just realised my son who has just been to Florida finally showed me where it is on the map and I can’t get used to it! So hopefully the typhoons were miles away’ I could delete this and hide my ignorance from the world but I’m good at some things:)
February 6th, 2007 at 2:14 pm
Sympathies to you and yours Sam – hope you guys get through this time more or less in one piece. As these things go, it sounds like Dave was given a good opportunity to say his goodbyes, and that’s something a lot of people do not get. Take care.
February 7th, 2007 at 7:30 am
Our condolesences to Dave and you, Sam, you know we all ache for you here.
Old people here say that only happy people pass away in their sleep, I believe she was happy to have you in her life.
