Pat, it's just not the same, holding a pile of A4 sheets rather than a good paperback. And in these days of soft toilet paper, it's not even like they'd be recycled after use. It's the same with your book too. I want to be able to read it, not print out 300 sheets and carry them about in a big cardboard folder.

Kim: after yesterday you are the man! No question.
But you can always print out Sam's stories and read them in the loo or bed.
You've gone off me now haven't you?

Just discovered your blog and want to be your new BFF. A resident of Ojai with a sense of humor! I am writing to my congressperson immediately to create a special nature preserve for you, that most endangered species. The last of your kind was Walks-With-Shrooms, a Chumash native, who also caused others to giggle helplessly. Tragically, she was beaten to death with sage sticks by outraged residents. As a resident of Bakersfield-By-The-Sea, just down the hill, I must find your pub and buy you a protective bevvie.

Sam, I'd buy a collection of your stories. And I'm as tight as a duck's ass when it comes to parting with my hard-earned. I would advise you against self publishing. Get a bunch of your best together -- ones like Bunny Love -- then work on a good query letter and send them to an agent. If you don't eventually publish these, something is damn wrong.

This post reminded me a little too uncomfortably of some of my family members, but it still had me laughing.

From everything I've heard about the new Batman film, Heath Ledger was magnificent. He was a big loss to the acting world. I haven't seen it yet but maybe will this weekend if we can get babysitting. And your memoirs are a different thing altogether. Your story is a lifelong love story evoking different times beautifully. I wish you all the luck in the world with it.

Conan, I wondered if anyone would take the bawdy tone with that! I love a bit of bawd, me.

Kim, but you can read it for free on here! I'd feel crummy asking my regular readers for money for my old rope.

Rand, I like the word, it's got that weighty biblical or judicial feel. I think we should all use it more often. Political discussions would accommodate it very well, I reckon.

Well done, dear. Was this a contest to see if you could build a story using the word "calumny?" If there isn't such a contest, there should be. You'd win.

Cheers.
